Yet Another Trip Up Mt Holdsworth to Powell

Ok, so this time it was in the snow!!
I wasn't really planning on climbing Holdsworth 3 times this year, but I had a day off and I really wanted to get up into the snow. Its a bit of a novelty for a boy who grew up in the sub tropical bay of Islands. Great day trip.

Powell Hut, Mt Holdsworth (twice)

Last weekend took me and some friends up Mt Holdsworth. After climbing to the summit we stayed at Powell and then In the morning I headed up again to see if there was any snow.... unfortunately
nothing really, but there was ice, and it was cold.... and there was
plenty of white stuff (cloud)Again Hughie was smiling on us and we got
much better weather than was forecast.

Powell Hut - Mt Holdsworth

So I didn't take most of these photos. Unfortunatly my camera is away getting fixed and anyone who has sent anything to canon's service department will know what I'm going through. Anyway..... Taking Sara up to Powell for her first ever tramp and Minna's first in the Tararua's, Powell hut, usually a packed out spot(the log book showing 30 teenagers having been there a couple of days before) some how we managed to get the best views I've ever had anywhere ever, we had the place to ourselves. We headed to the summit the next morning and thenm a gentle 2 hr 30 min walk back to the road end the next morning.
