Wellington Coastguard
The Wellington volunteer Coast Guard patrol the "No Go Zone" before the sinking.
After months of preperation the former HMNZS WELLINGTON aka F69 was finally sunk off the Wellington south coast near Island Bay. The frigate is to be used as a an artificial reef and a diving attraction.
Holes had been cut right through the hull of the frigate to insure it sank without any problems. It went down verry quickly and under a much stronger wind than was hoped for.
